the absence of it all

My great grandmother was a painter in the later years of her life. She mostly did still life's of flowers and such. I decided to try my hand at it. The shallow lights along with the absence of all the details kind've make you wonder about why the lights are low and the ettiquette of the people back in that time. Who has a bowl of fruit next to freshly cut flowers anymore? We're the definition of a more simpler yet sophisticated people? Ya we're smarter, but we take a lot for granite.
